Booker T. Washington High School

A public magnet school located in North Tulsa, Booker T. Washington High School is all about tradition.

We have an excellent academic tradition, and the top priority of our school is to prepare students for college. Our excellent Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs helped propel us to be ranked 58th in Newsweek's list of top 1000 schools in 2005.

We are also committed to our extracurricular activities. Our football was ranked in the nation's Top 100, and our Academic Bowl won 2nd in Oklahoma.

Part of what allows our students to take part in activites such as these is our Activity Period. This is a scheduled time during the week when students can choose an activity, such as robotics, to participate in.

Diversity is of the utmost importance at B.T.W. Traditionally an all-black school, it was desegregated in 1973 when the magnet program was started. Now, the school attracts students from all over the Tulsa district. Diversity is still a crucial part of our program, and it is part of what we believe helps us be so successful.

We encourage diversity on our FIRST Robitics team as well. Special efforts are made to recruit females and students who aren't as interested in math and science by stressing that robotics is a team effort, and there is a job that everyone can do to help the team.
